Rise of the Tomb Raider - Update

Dear Tomb Raider Community,

As you may have seen, we’ve just announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider, coming Holiday 2015, is exclusively on Xbox. We consider all of you to be the lifeblood of Tomb Raider and the work we do at Crystal. I’d like to give you some insight into this decision, and…

Did you mean: Thanks for being with us for all those years Raiders, but unless you buy an Xbox, we don’t need you anymore.

Ok, then.

I am alive!

Sorry the absence, I’m going through some life changing events, so things are a bit confusing at the moment. What I can tell you is that I’m giving up of Surgical Instrumentation to work with CG. I’m kinda scared of turning this hobby “official”, but I thought so much about this and came to the conclusion that it’s, all things considered, the best decision to make.

In addition to studying 3D modeling, I’ll have to adapt myself to 3ds Max+Vray workflow until the end of the year, so my AoD projects will be postponed, unfortunately (except Kurtis portrait, I just need a stress-free time to make the final adjustments).

I’ll try to keep you posted on my odyssey - wish me luck, I really need it! xD

narkotique asked:

Do you live in Los Angeles like i? I wish i can communicate my vision for Lara Croft to you, it's quite extensive, but i have a powerful vision and direction, however i am alas not an Artist to create what i envision so well

No, I live in Brazil. Since TRAOD is my current focus and I have the entire trilogy mentalized, based on original concepts, I prefer to avoid any reference that can modify the “storyline”, so to speak. However, as you have plenty confidence in your ideas you could share them with other fans through writing; 3D isn’t the only way to represent something and being inspirational (=

ripulse asked:

do you have tuts? i`m dying to see one

Hey ripulse! I have none by now, but I’m planning to share a step-by-step after Janice’s Portrait. I would approach the Poser-Zbrush integration, and the basics of rendering her scene, plus some useful links. I just need to know how many people would be interested, and it will take a while to complete.

Until then, feel free to ask if you have any specific question, maybe I can help :D

Hello, as you can see, i have taken great interest in ur AOD Lara concept. I am very Feminist-positive about female representation, nevertheless, this doesn't mean that we minimize a character's sex appeal and state of being 'sexy' in order to be true to Feminist virtues. We can direct the male gaze to other refreshing parts of the female body to be objectified; e.g. Lara's hair. you can make it very long and animated, like a Bollywood sensation. The hair is HIGHLY valued in a woman's appeal

Hi, I see what you mean, but for now I’m done with this render. I’ll resume my work on Kurtis portrait, which has the same backlighting effect I was aiming for Lara. If I manage to reproduce it properly I’ll do the same with hers, so the hair will be able to draw more attention of the viewer. I can make the braid longer on the next project, though.
Thanks for your suggestion (=
